THE SPIRIT OF ACCUSATION (Part 2)
Romans 8:1-2 (1) – There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (KJV)
Read: Revelation 12:9-11
In Part 1 of our series on the Spirit of Accusation, we learned that this spirit is a dominant demonic force that relentlessly accuses people. The spirit has its roots in Satan’s mission to deceive and destroy. We also understood that the devil’s accusations are mainly to counter Christ’s aim of salvation, strength, power, and the kingdom of God. Today, we continue our series on the operation of this satanic spirit and how to walk in victory.
According to Revelation 12:10, the devil’s first mission of accusation is to condemn the work of salvation. Everyone who accepts Jesus is free from the burden of sin and past atrocities. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” But the accuser preaches the exact opposite. Satan wants to convince you to doubt your salvation and condemn yourself by causing you to think more about your mistakes than about your saviour. Rather than bask in the joy of salvation, the devil, through his agents, wants to flood your minds with guilt.
The good news, however, is that salvation is all-inclusive. Today’s Bible reading reveals that salvation comes with zero condemnation. If you still have a sense of self-criticism after being saved, it means you did not totally surrender to Christ. The key text further reveals that it is not only to be saved but to consciously live by the Spirit. In other words, salvation involves remaining rooted in God’s Word and following the guidance of the Holy Spirit to discern and overcome the condemnation of the accuser.
