THE BAD HABITS

Ephesians 4:17-32 (22)
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; (NIV)
 
While growing up, we may have purposely or unconsciously formed certain behaviours which have now become part of us (Proverbs 22:6). Hence, we need a self-check and re-evaluation to get rid of the bad habits while we build on the good ones.
 
What are those habits you are struggling with, which has hindered your physical and spiritual growth? Are they: disobedience to God and elders, poor time-management, bad eating and table manners, pride, pornography, masturbation, homosexuality, pre/post-marital sex and, the commonest which is ‘telling lies’, as many children now grow up as trained liars? Oh! How do I know? When your parents tell you to inform visitors that they are not home. Isn’t that a lie, or you call it ‘White-lie’ and being diplomatic?
 
Beloved, all these bad morals, among others, will never allow complete righteousness and productivity in a man; instead, they spoil the other right side (Song of Solomon 2:15). No wonder, our text encourages us to do away with our old and unpleasant ways. And when a man is in Christ, his past is blotted out so that he becomes a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17).
 
WHAT NOW?
Are you battling with some habits which you are ready to let go but keeps coming back? If any! Today is your day of salvation because as we pray, the Lord shall grant you the grace and power for a new life. Moreover, avoid people and things that encourage those habits, and look up to God! (Hebrews 12:1-2)

Proverbs 21:1
In the LORD’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him. (NIV)
OUR GOD IS THE GOD OF ALL POSSIBILITIES
I had a great challenge which was that my fiancée is from Kwara State. But, the Dad, who is a clergy, hardly allow their members to get married to men/women from other denominations. The father bluntly refused I marry his daughter, coupled with the fact that I’m not from Kwara State or a Yoruba-speaking tribe.
His decision so perturbed me, but my fiancée and I held firmly to God. Therefore, for over two years, we fasted and prayed every Friday; specifically, for the Dad to have a change of heart. March last year, after engaging in a 7-day dry fast, I visited the father with some men of God, and he told me to the face that he would never allow his daughter to marry me. And if the daughter insists, he will neither attend the wedding nor give his blessings.
On hearing this, I cried but not discouraged. I held to the Lord I serve, increased my prayers and fasting, and God began to work on the man’s heart (Hallelujah). In April this year, he requested that I see him. On getting there, he told me how God has been dealing with him for saying no to the marriage and right there, he asked me to bring my parents for the introduction which we did on May 4. To my amazement, we were giving the ‘Bride Price’ list, and to the glory of God, the wedding held successfully on September 7, 2019.
As I speak now, I enjoy so much closeness and relationship with my father-in-law, who once refused to give me his daughter in marriage. All glory and adorations be to God Almighty.

Beloved, indeed as our text reads; the heart of kings belongs to God so that He directs them to favour us. Moreover, testimonies are ways to say: ‘Thank You, Jesus’ (Luke 17:16-19). Therefore, as you testify in thanksgiving to God, He shall perfect all which concerns you, in Jesus’ name (Psalms 138:8). Be Born Again!

David asked the men standing near him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (NIV)
At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, British Derek Redmond’s quest for glory in the 400m relay was cut short midway when he tore his hamstring. However, amazingly, despite his inability to carry on, he never gave up! Because he knew that it’s better to finish anyhow than to quit anytime (Ecclesiastes 7:8). Therefore, amidst tears and pains, his Dad walked him through the finish line. And guess what? His gesture that day inspired millions globally thereby making him more popular than the winner.
Beloved, in your life’s journey, when faced with those hard times, you need to know what you’ll be laboured with if you quit, and the glory to gain when you pay the price (Proverbs 24:10). David in our text, asked for the prize, held on to God and paid the price (Risk) by confronting Goliath. No wonder, Chad Bowen quipped that “Difficult situations create exploitable opportunities for those strong enough to persevere.” In other words, there will always be ‘a stone for your Goliath and a light after the tunnel for those that wait’ (Micah 7:8).
WHAT NOW?
Though the night may seem longer but joy comes in the morning (Psalms 30:5). So, refuse to quit! Focus on the ultimate prize and keep paying the price as done by Derek Redmond, you’ll finish strong! (Colossians 3:2). More importantly, Christ is all you need to scale through every storm you may encounter (Psalms 34:19). Surrender to Him today, He shall ensure your easy ride! (John 14:27)

The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged? (KJV)
 
When a man or brand is produced, it gets an identity. But, because we serve the God of new things (Isaiah 43:19), He can decide to change an existing unfavourable name to a fresh one.
 
Meanwhile, in life, people mostly identify us by our peculiar issues rather than with our names. No wonder, the blind man in our text wasn’t recognised after he got healed. That’s why I decree this day, as many evil tags are attached to you, they shall scatter, in Jesus’ name.
 
Therefore, maybe you have been labelled as the barren one or the jobless fellow? If you’ll cry out to God, He shall change your story to glory and give you a first-class name. However, do you believe He can do the impossible? If yes! Talk to Him now. Be Born Again!
 
PRAYER
 
1. Father, do what the world call ‘the impossible’ in my life today!
 
2. Father, just as You did to the blind man, please make my story a global topic of Your glory.
 
3. Lord, give me a new name, fresh song, profitable job, magnificent accommodation, higher anointing and greater levels (Mention).

Isaiah 59:1-2 (1)
Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. (NIV)
 
Jordan got dehydrated and injured his shoulder when his boat capsized on the North Carolina Sea. His inability to repair the boat’s broken mast and navigation systems got him stranded on the sea. Consequently, he fed on fishes and drank rainwater daily for 2 months and 4 days when he was found by German sailors who were amazed at how he survived in perfect health. Days later, Jordan, in his interview with CNN, said “Finally, God answered my prayers right before I ran out.”
 
Meanwhile, during Jordan’s disappearance, his family had believed they lost him, but his father said “I never ceased to pray, and God heard my cry.” What a story indeed! “Despite the turbulence, they didn’t stop praying.”
 
Beloved, as you sail through the dark side of life, business, marriage or ministry, are you still in constant communion with God? (Isaiah 43:2) Oh! God will never allow you suffer more than you can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13), so that He kept Jordan alive such as He fed Elijah at Brook Cherith (1 Kings 17:1-6).
 
Therefore, I don’t know if your current situation is like of Jordan’s which needed urgent intervention. I have good news for you, and it’s that if you would raise a hand in surrender to Jesus, He will pull you out of the dungeon of life into His marvellous wonders (Isaiah 41:10-13). Remember as our text reads, His arm is not weak to carry us but our iniquities moulded a gap between Heaven and us. So, get Born Again!
 
PRAYER OF DECREE

Lord Jesus, I raise my hands in total submission to You. Please, pardon my sins and past atrocities (confess), and write my name in the Book of Life. Hence, rescue me from regret (guilt), sorrow, failure, sickness, joblessness and debts (Mention). Thank you, Jesus!

ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH? 🤺

Genesis 2:15, 19 & 20 (15)
And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. (KJV)

What makes a man is not the big belly or six-packs as generally thought that a man is someone fit, active and energetic with muscular structures. However, a man in this context is a brave, tough, rugged and spirited male or female.

For example, in 1 Samuel 17:34-36, 49/19:9-12, David killed a lion and a bear. He defeated Goliath and escaped from Saul. Likewise, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were men enough to stand the trials (Daniel 3:1-30). Oh! For the sake of the Jewish brethren, Esther risked everything and declared that “If I perish, I perish.” (Esther 4:16). Also, if Joseph had not gone through those hurdles, how would he have managed the entire land of Egypt? (Genesis 37-41).

Beloved, ‘what makes a man is what he is challenged with’. Because it is through the storm, that you learn to stay strong and activate your faith (Proverbs 24:10), therefore, may I ask what you are facing? Opposition? Ah! That’s what makes you stronger (Micah 7:8). ‘But I’m always maltreated!’ Glory be to God! You are becoming a man! No wonder, Martin Luther King, Jr. said “The ultimate measure of a man isn’t where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenges.”

WHAT NOW?
Do you chicken out at minor problems or you are the type of husband or wife who avoids their responsibilities? Always remember that “If you don’t take responsibility, you become a liability”— Bishop David Oyedepo. Moreover, as read in our text, if Adam was responsible for the garden and naming of creatures, then what makes you a man? Be Born Again!

When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (NLT)

Close to my place was a major demolition of buildings, and surprisingly, within a week, these structures were flattened. Then, I imagined the amount of planning, work and money invested in constructing these apartments only to be hauled down. That moment, the Holy Spirit began to liken the scenario to our ‘Spiritual life and Sin’.

The Bible talks about Samson whom right from the womb got anointed and infused with strength, yet, it was ‘Sin’ that shortened his destiny (Judges 13-16). Similarly, looking at a contemporary example, there was a man of God; full of passion and power that he preached in several countries and the Buckingham Palace. Everything was rosy for this pastor until one day when a boy claimed he sexually abused him. As a result, he got jailed, and that ended his ministry.

What a sad story. Isn’t it? That’s why if ye think you stand, check thoroughly and be conscious that “It takes a lot of effort to build a house, character and relationship (with God and man) but it takes one action to destroy them.” Therefore, get vigilant; for, your salvation, prayer-altar, anointing, gifting and ministry could get eliminated by a single unjust act– Sin is a Wrecker! (1 Corinthians 10:12-13).

WHAT NOW?
As our text affirms, Adam and Eve gave access to sin, but the good news is that Christ came for this purpose– to save us from this error and destruction. So, if need be, surrender to Jesus today!

1. Favour of God that will make a way of progress for me, fall upon my life, in Jesus’ name.
2. Favour of God, follow me everywhere I go, in Jesus’ name.
3. Lord Jesus, send me angels that will help me daily, to secure favour on all sides, in Jesus’ name.
4. Every satanic blockage to my breakthrough (open doors) and divine help, scatter in Jesus’ name.
5. Mark of hatred and rejection, affecting my marital destiny, employment and business, be wiped off by the blood of Jesus!
6. Lord Jesus, please elevate me till I become who You want me to be, in Jesus’ name.
7. This week and beyond, I reject confusion and aimlessness of heart, in Jesus; name.
8. I silence every voice (Death, shame, delay and lack) crying against my life and testimony, in Jesus’ name.
9. Father, please prosper my life, family, neighbours, nation and the church to Your glory, in Jesus’ name.

Why not give thanks to the Lord for instant answers to prayers even as you talk to Him about your heart desires. He will answer every prayer. Amen. Hallelujah! I decree, your week shall be sweeter than sweet, in Jesus’ name. Do have a fruitful week!

God is so good; Against my landlord’s initial decision to evict me, he has allowed me to use that shop till next year when I finish my HND. When I even met him, he just related to me like we knew each other before.

Testimonies are ways of returning the glory to God through thanksgiving (Psalms 103). Moreover, when we share our testimonies as Christ told the man in our text, we encourage others in the faith (1 Timothy 6:12) and seal our authority over storms (Revelation 12:11).
