MY MOTHER!
Bible Text: Deuteronomy 5:16
A Mother doesn’t necessarily mean a woman or a biological mother but could be someone who plays a role of a carer and guardian in your life. Therefore, in this context a mother could be your wife, pastor, uncle, aunty or even your role-model. Yesterday was international women’s day and there were lots of sweet comments on various social media platforms. However, the question really is: ‘do we honour the parents as much as you have praised them? Because, even God laid emphasis on them as they are our earthly gods. We ought to obey and respect them as read in today’s scripture.
One day, a village man woke up and decided that he would leave for city. But, the mother told him not to go that it’s not yet time warning that he may never return the same. He refused and getting to the city, it was already late so he slept on the street. Few hours later, he was robbed and because he had little or no money, the thieves angrily plugged out his two eyes. As a result, he became a mobile beggar until he unknowingly begged to his town. The people who saw him quickly called his mother and they both wept together, but it was too late! I pray, every spirit of disobedience bent on tarnishing your destiny is destroyed today, in Jesus’ name.
Therefore beloved, we need to appreciate that woman/person called or acting as the “Mother” in your life. No one can ever quantify the bond between a mother and child. She took you in for 9 solid months and cared for you till you became somebody in life. Now! You are shy to even introduce her to your friends saying she is an illiterate. Ah! You are an ingrate. Hmm.. But, no matter how and where you’ve missed it, be encouraged, you can still make amends today because everyone at one stage was guilty of disobedience or negligence to the parents (Luke 15:11-32).
Do you want to prosper? If yes! Then, you need to go back on your knees to that “Mother”; apologise, honour and bless her. Why? Because, this is the first commandment of God with a promise. Be Born Again!
PRAYER
1. Father, please forgive all my sins including my disobedience to parents and elders.
2. Father, preserve all our parents and let them eat the good fruits of their labours.
3. Please, pray for anyone that represents a mother in your life. E.g. Pastors and your family.
