1 Thessalonians 5:1-28 (18)
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

After the pilgrims landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA in 1621 they struggled to survive through their first winter. So, when the summer came they were so happy because they have learnt a lot. Therefore, they planted and harvested fine crops of corn, grapes, raspberries and strawberries in the pastures, and not too far from the village, they were able to hunt wild turkeys and deer effortlessly. Also, in the waters, plenty of fishes and lobsters were caught. The summer has been very good so they wanted to celebrate and give thanks to God.

Consequently, a well respected elder, Sir. Brewster said, “Indeed, let us invite and celebrate with our friends in thanksgiving to God for all our blessings”. What a heart and act of gratitude. And so, beloved, today is that day of our thanksgiving because throughout the past year, we have laboured, sown and worked very hard, and of course, sadly, some could neither reap their harvests nor get into the new year. But here we are, celebrating a successful crossover! Isn’t God worthy of our praise? (Psalms 150). Therefore, you and I will count our blessings and testimonies of 2016 and give quality praise to God who has kept us this far.

Father, I have returned with quality thanks to You because I’m not an ingrate. Therefore, please, make 2017 the best year of my life.
